-Getting a Medical Record Number (MRN) for Subjects Must be done in order to register them with Radiology for their scan. Subjects who have been scanned before should already have an MRN and you should not have to do this. call 215-615-2240 Ext: 1 Info you will need for this: Name Address Phone# DOB Last 4 digits of SSN
 Mother’s, Father’s first names
-primary physician, if they have one insurance company, if they have one marital status
-
-Registering Patients (i.e., Subjects) at HUP6 Normal Registration: You should register your subject within 48 hours of when they are scheduled. Call this number (Radiology at the hospital): 215 662 3000 (exts 1, and 1)
-Different receptionists ask for different info or call the same thing something different. In general, though, the things you'll always need to know are: Type of scan (usually the first thing they ask): MRHD Modifier: RNR (MRHD means that we're scanning the head of the subject. RNR specifies that it's for research purposes. Usually, I just say "MRHD-RNR" when they ask what type of scan, so then they don't separately ask for the modifier.) Referring Physician (or "what doctor is this under", etc...): H. Branch Coslett
-At some point in here they'll usually ask for your name. Generally they just want a first name. I'm not sure what that is used for other than some very vague record of who called in the appointment.
-Then they usually ask for the patient info. Almost always they'll ask for the last name. Sometimes all they'll need after that is either the mr# or the birthday. Other times they want all the same info that general patient registration asks for (address, parents' names, etc.). This is usually just for the first time they get scanned, but also it depends on the receptionist who you get.
-Resource: (sometimes called “room”): HUP6 (aka MR6) (When they ask what resource you're using, they're asking for the name of the scanner that we use. It's called HUP6 or, alternately, MR6.)
-Billing: CAMRIS (When they ask who to bill or who gets billed or who the billing goes to or who is paying for this, the answer is CAMRIS. This is the group that is run by Margaret Ryan and Norman Butler. They receive all the CfN-affiliated charges and assign them to whoever is booked on the CfN calendar for that particular time on the scanner.)
-Then they'll ask for the date and time of the scan (sometimes they ask for this earlier).
-Lastly, they should confirm the subject info and date/time and then ask if you want the accession number. This is just like a receipt or confirmation code that is specific to the subject and date/time you just registered. I always write this down, although I've never had to use it.
-
-Weekend Registration: You should have all weekend subjects registered by 5:30 on Friday. However, you might need to call Radiology over the weekend if a subject you have cancels and you need to register another subject last-minute as their replacement. For weekend registration the Radiology number to call is: 215 662 3004
-
Special Sunday Scans: All the info in Weekend Registration applies. However please also note to inform Margaret Ryan of which protocols are being billed for the hours scheduled.
-To call HUP6 room directly: 215.662.3057
