This is an old revision of the document!

If you are reading this, then you probably want to gain access to the CCN subject database. In order to do so, you will need to follow a few easy steps so that (1) the IRB knows that you are a contributor to/user of the database, and (2) you may have physical access to the database via the SAS server. Also, you must have Filemaker Pro to access the database. If you do not have this on your computer, it is on a few computers in the TD space on the 5th floor of Goddard, or it is cheap to by from the Penn computer store. In order for the IRB to grant you approval to access the CCN subject database, you will need to contact the database administrator. Send an email, with the subject: CCN DB ACCESS, to apersi@sas.upenn.edu. The administrator will let you know that your request has been received, and when you have been given IRB approval for the database. This should only take 1-3 days. To gain access to the database you will need to get an Active Directory (AD) user name and password from SAS. This is a quick and painless process. Fill out the form at the address below, and you should receive an email with a user name and password within 1-3 days: http://www.sas.upenn.edu/computing/help/faculty_staff/forms/ad_request+

Please fill out all of the fields on the form. Below are instructions for filling out a few of the fields on this form: 6) Department: CCN 8) Reason(s) for Account Request (check all that apply): CHECK BOX 3 (I require access to a shared folder/resource in my department/workgroup). 9) SKIP THIS FIELD 11) Please provide name and email address of who we should contact to obtain it: LACINDA 12) Please provide name and email address of your SAS Computing Local Support Provider so that we may keep them informed of the status of your request: ccn-help@sas.upenn.edu 13) Please provide any additional comments you wish regarding your request: “CCN Subject database access” click SUBMIT! Once you have received the reply email from SAS Computing, the first thing you will want to do is change the default password to something new. You should do this from the command line. Changing Password: In utilities→Terminal From the command line, enter: smbpasswd -r SAS.UPENN.EDU -U USERNAME (USERNAME is your PennKey Username) Old Password: abcd1234! Choose new password. This password must contain at least three of the four following conditions: upper case, lower case, number, symbol. i.e. Yer!name12
