Training Program in Neuroscience Neuroimaging
Training Site: |

There has been an exponential growth in the utilization of neuroimaging in brain research,
yet few investigators possess the entire range of skills needed to carry out successful
neuroimaging research.
This NIH sponsored program offers predoctoral and postdoctoral training in neuroimaging,
combining an understanding of central nervous system organization and function,
the biophysical basis for the various imaging methodologies used to assess brain function
in vivo, and a familiarity with existing and potential clinical applications of imaging methods
to neurological and psychiatric disorders.
Highly qualified trainees with backgrounds in either biomedical or biophysical sciences
will participate in research and receive dual mentoring from a diverse group of preceptors
with either methodological or neuroscience expertise. Hands-on training is supplemented
by participation in several seminar series covering translational neuroimaging, image
analysis, cognitive neuroscience, and neuroethics.
Individuals interested in applying as predocs or postdocs should submit the following items
to the Program Director, John A. Detre, MD (detre@mail.med.upenn.edu):
1) a recent c.v. which includes previous work experience,
2) a personal statement outlining their research interests and reasons for pursuing this particular
training opportunity and
3) a letter of introduction and recommendation from their training director or doctoral committee
chairperson.
N.B. Only American citizens and resident aliens are eligible for training through this program.
